What is Maker space ?

A maker space is a collaborative work space for making, learning, exploring and sharing knowledge that uses high tech to no tech tools. It's a physical environment which promotes the ability to dream, has the equipment to tinker, curriculum to structure children’s thinking, events/platform run by student led societies to showcase their work, and mentors to guide them.
Maker space allow community members to design, prototype and manufacture items using tools that would otherwise be inaccessible or affordable such as 3-D printers, digital fabrication machines and computer-aided design (CAD) software. 
STEAM labs, and fab labs are popping up in schools across the country. Makerspace provide hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, build and invent as they deeply engage in science, engineering and tinkering.

How Do I Build A Maker space At My School Or Library?

A Tinkering Lab/ Maker Space is a platform that supports the natural traits of a child. Kids are naturally tinkerers and makers - they break & take apart things & make something creative out of it. They are born curious & creative. They make their own games, they redesign their surroundings as they like. This brings out a sense of confidence & feeling of discovery/innovation in them. That’s how they discover the world around them & get involved in a deeper learning.

It doesn’t matter how you begin. Just begin. School district leaders, a single teacher or even a visionary student can champion the space. We are here to guide you at every step.
